Gujarat Titans’ Brave Declaration On Missing Jos Buttler In IPL Playoffs: “Doesn’t Worry Us…”

The absence of Jos Buttler in the stages with direct elimination can expose the intermediate order of Gujarat Titans, but the deputy coach Matthew Wade considers that he also presents the opportunity for others to make a “big impact”. The GT’s order of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Buttler played a decisive role in their campaign, the three marking more than 500 points this season. However, GT will miss buttler’s services in the playoffs, with the Englishman who was to come back for the national service after their last championship match against Chennai Super Kings on May 25.

“This is certainly not worried, we know that these guys are in great shape when they have the opportunity and they will do a great job for us,” said Wade at the pre-match press conference.

“It would be good if the first three continue to mark the majority of races. We are going to lose Jos after a few more games, so there will be another opportunity for someone to come at three years and take up this role.

“But I am really convinced that these guys, when they have their opportunity, they will have a big impact in the games as they did when they have been necessary during the last six or eight weeks.” Wade, a former Guiche-Gardien drummer winner of the Australian World Cup who played 12 IPL games for GT, said that it was difficult to reproduce match situations in practice, the team tries to give the strikers of the intermediate order an adequate preparation.

“What is positive is the average order – Sherfane (Rutherford) and Shahrukh (Khan), guys like that, (Rahul) Tewatia – they had a good impact in the games when they have the opportunity, they simply did not have a lot of playing time in recent weeks.

GT, who is sitting at the top of the table, will then face Lucknow’s Super Giants, a team already outside the playoffs.

“I think that sometimes, when the seasons of the teams are finished, they become almost a little more dangerous, they tend to release a little and they have the opportunity to finish their tournaments very strongly,” he said by referring to LSG.
