Manchester United Must Make Changes After ‘Unacceptable’ Season, Says Luke Shaw

Manchester United Defender Luke Shaw said he and his teammates were to wonder if they are good enough to represent the English giants after the defeat in the Europa League final in Tottenham ended a season. The Spurs ended a 17-year-old trophy drought with a confusing 1-0 victory in Bilbao thanks to the effort of Brennan Johnson after Shaw failed to cope with a cross. United, which is 16th in the Premier League, will now completely miss European football next season for the second time in 35 years.
“For a club like Manchester United, it is far from good enough,” said Shaw.
“I think it’s definitely me, and I think we must all question ourselves tonight, are we good enough to be here? Because this club, this season, is not acceptable.”
The defeat will increase the pressure on the manager Ruben Amorim, who has not had a positive impact on the results since his care in November.
The Portuguese is only the last highly rated coach to fight in the hot seat of Old Trafford since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Shaw supported the united boss to stay in charge and declared that the responsibility should lie with the players rather than aMorim.
“I think there is a lot to change. I think that is why Ruben is 100% the right person,” added Shaw.
“Because he knows, and he can see the club day after day, not only on the field, but out of the field, around the club, standards, the state of mind.
“I think he sees everything, and I think he knows what he needs to change.”
