PBKS had to beat DC in order to keep the hopes of qualifying 1 in their hands, but the defeat of the meeting now leaves them at the mercy of the other franchises. While the third referee made the checks, no evidence of the Nair foot touching the boundary rope was found. Consequently, the punjab striker was only awarded one race.

Zinta, however, smoking the referee after the match, suggesting that even Nair said that it should have been six.

“In such a high -end tournament with so many technologies available to the third referee, these errors are unacceptable and simply should not happen. I spoke to Karun after the match and he confirmed that it was definitely a 6! I rest my case! #PBKSVSDC # IPL2025”, wrote Preity Zinta on X (formerly Twitter).
