Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Inaugurates Para Games

The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated on Friday the 6th Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (NGC) at the Thyagaraj stadium in New Delhi. The four-day sporting event celebrates resilience and remarkable achievements of the para-athletes of the main companies in the Public Petroleum and Gazier in India (PSU). Addressing the rally, the Minister praised the spirit of determination and perseverance displayed by the athletes and underlined the need to promote inclusive platforms which allow para-athletes to excel.

“The NGC games Para are a brilliant example of a participatory approach to inclusiveness and development. With each edition, these games become stronger, attracting more participation and greater recognition. I am delighted to see that this year, more than 350 para-athletes of various oil and gas usus are competing, showing their strength, their skills and their unnamed mind, “said the minister.

Puri has also noticed that the grain and triumph stories behind the journey of each athlete serve as inspiration for all. “These achievements are not only medals; they represent an indomitable will to succeed. I am convinced that each participant will remove invaluable experiences, stronger camaraderie and even greater will to achieve excellence in all areas of life,” he added.

Recognizing the pioneering role of the NGB in the organization of para games between the PSU, Puri urged other companies to take proactive initiatives in the promotion of sports and social inclusiveness.

The NGOs Para Games, organized in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of India, have experienced exponential growth over the years. The first edition in 2017 saw 120 OGC employees to participate in several disciplines, including athletics, badminton, table tennis and wheelchair races.

Several para-athletes of the NGB and its PSU partners continued to represent India at the Paralympic Games, bringing the laurels to the nation. The continuous success of the NGC games Para highlights the growing importance and recognition of para-sports in India.

The 6th NGO games will end on Sunday, with athletes in the running for the best honors in several sports categories.
