In 2000, Hrithik Roshan had just burst on the big screen like a meteor with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai – And what followed was nothing less than hysteria! The beginner did not only earn hearts across the country, he inspired some extreme Fan moments, in particular in Calcutta, according to the magazine Film Information.

Believe it or not, there were real school makers in Calcutta trying to sneak outside their home, hoping to take a flight – or even a train – in Mumbai just to have an overview of their Bollywood crushing. The situation has become so intense that the local police would have intercepted a dozen teenagers trying to go to the city of dreams!
Alarmed by this level of Hrithik fever, a group of school directors in Calcutta met and decided to act. They contacted none other than Mithun Chakraborty to transmit a message to the new superstar. The demand? A sweet appeal for her young fans to stay anchored – literally!
Hrithik, the gentleman he is, quickly returned a faxed message (yes, it was the 2000s!) By saying: “Girls don’t need to come to Mumbai. I will be in the city (Calcutta) for them. ” And faithful to his word, the Kaho naa… pyaar hai Star visited Calcutta next month, to the great joy (and relief) of the fans And educators.
But here is the twist: some avant-garde educators have even planned to channel this craze in the classroom! A director suggested using Hrithik as a amusing point of reference in academic matters – teaching geography by noting that Mumbai as the capital of Maharashtra, “hence Hrithik is from” or biology with exhibits exhibits as “the longest bone of the body of Hrithik Roshan is the femur”.
