British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran confirmed that he had recorded a Hindi song for a next film by Shah Rukh Khan, causing a wave of online speculation. The revelation came in a video behind the scenes shared during the creation of its latest single ”Sapphire“, Which already presented a surprise cameo from the Bollywood superstar itself.

Although the name of the film has not been officially announced, fans are convinced that the project in question is King – The next big theatrical version of Shah Rukh Khan, produced by Siddharth Anand. The project has remained closely under Wraps since its announcement, but the comments of Sheeran and recent developments around ‘Sapphire’ are now considered strong indicators of a deeper collaboration.
After Ed Sheeran published a video behind the scenes on his YouTube channel, a fan noticed a short segment where he saw the Punjabi version of his song ‘recordSapphire’ With Arijit Singh. A fan club then shared this clip on Instagram, writing: “I can’t wait for the complete Punjabi version!” Discover the BTS on the edge channel of Ed. Ed also mentioned a Hindi version – so now I don’t know if the other version is in Hindi or Punjabi. ”
Ed Sheeran himself responded to the post and erased confusion. He wrote: “The Hindi song is for a Bollywood film that Shah Rukh Khan does. This is the Punjabi version of Sapphire with Arijit. I just do all the languages at this stadium.”
It should be noted that the appearance of Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Sapphire’ has already aroused a considerable buzz. The video also presents the Indian reading singer Arijit Singh.
This is not Ed Sheeran’s first brush with India. He recently obtained a Punjabi tattoo which says “Neelam”, which results in “sapphire” in English. During his recent tour in India, Sheeran mentioned how much he appreciates the dynamism of Indian music, and there are growing chatter that he could explore more collaborations in Indian cinema in the future.
KingWho also features Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and others, is the only Shah Rukh Khan project actively in production at the moment. The film was presented as a grainy drama and marked the beginnings in the SUHANA theater after its entry from OTT with the Archies.
As for the Hindi song itself, the details remain under the Wraps. We do not know if it will be part of the King Soundtrack, a promotional crossover, or even a separate single linked to the film’s marketing campaign. Given the speculative nature of these developments, neither Shah Rukh Khan ni Siddharth Anand officially confirmed the association. However, the moment of recording the song, the declaration of Sheeran and the visuals of the ‘Sapphire’ The BTS video all seems to point in one direction.
While fans are waiting for an official confirmation, the idea of a Sheeran-Khan musical crossover continues to dominate online discussions. If speculation is true, it could be one of the most unique world collaborations that Bollywood has seen in recent years.
