SCREEN launches SCREEN academy to nurture India’s next generation of Filmmakers : Bollywood News

The Indian Express group and screen announced on Wednesday the launch of Screen Academy, a non -profit initiative aimed at supporting and highlighting emerging talents in Indian cinema.

With an exciting and rapidly growing list of various members, including the winners of Cannes and Oscar, Guneet Monga, Payal Kapadia and Resul Pookutty, and the veteran screenwriter Anjum Rajabali, the Academy, working with the best film institutes in India, will identify and allow the next generation of filmmakers by education, representation and recognition.
Established with the generous support of the ABHISHEK LODHA boss’s foundation of the LODHA Foundation, Screen Academy will provide third cycle scholarships every year to students nominated by their cinema schools, which demonstrate an exceptional narration potential but do not have the financial resources to continue education in formal cinema.
Maharashtra Shri’s chief minister Fadnavis said that the timing and the location could not be more relevant. “The film industry has an inseparable association with Mumbai. I am delighted to learn the creation of the non -profit screen Academy by the Indian Express group … I am sure that the Indian film industry will benefit enormously from the new cinematographic talent that the Academy aims to cultivate.”
Said Annant Goenka, executive director of the Indian Express group, who led the idea of the academy: “Screen Academy represents a daring step towards the institutionalization of excellence in the entertainment and culture space. We will create an ecosystem that does not only celebrate excellence, but actively nourishes a various and promising talent with financial assistance and access.”
For Abhishek Lodha, the work of the Academy is the key to the soft power and the growth of India as the world leader in creative arts. “The Lodha Foundation is committed to supporting India’s progress to become a nation developed by 2047. Films and creative arts are a key strength of our nation and the Screen Academy will play an important role in promoting India’s progress to a world leader in this area. The Lodha Foundation is happy to associate with the Academy Screen in this ambitious initiative.”
The Screen Academy Fellow 2025 will cover full financial support for third cycle studies in the first institutions, cinema and television Institute of India (Pune), Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Kolkata) and Whistling Woods International (Mumbai). The Academy plans to extend its imprint across the country and add more movie schools to the future.
Beyond funding, Screen Academy Fellows will benefit from an unprecedented industry mentoring program featuring the best and most respected Indian studios of cinema professionals as members of the Academy. These industry leaders will provide masterclasses, internships and ongoing professional advice.

Samiran Dutta, director in charge of Satyajit Ray Institute, said the scholarships would fill a vital gap. “We have talents from various and unknown parts of India, not only from urban metro, producing great ideas and fabulous stories. Naturally, some of our students find it difficult to negotiate the expenses of film education. The Screen Academy scholarship will help in their quest to make a big cinema ”

The selection of scholarship holders will be a panel led by Anjum Rajabali, veteran screenwriter and film academician. “This extremely generous initiative provides essential support for young people to take advantage of formal education in the profession, for which the film, television and the OTT sector will be grateful to have access to this talent basin. These scholarships will help increase the quality of writing and cinema here. ”
