It is pure joy for me. I literally danced when the winner was announced. I can’t even express how happy I am. I’m so happy that he won for this film. From the first time we took, I knew he deserved it. I still remember that moment – how authentic and real. From this moment, I thought he would shine in this role.

Yes, I received a message of congratulations from Mr. Bachchan. I answered saying that everything was possible because of him, because I worked with him earlier. This is how I got to know Abhishek, and that’s how I was able to throw it. Honestly, never once while the shooting did it, I feel like I was watching Abhishek Bachchan. For me, he has always been Arjun Sen.
Was Abhishek your first choice to play Arjun Sen?
Yes, when looking for the character of Arjun Sen, I realized how much Abhishek could adapt perfectly to the role. The ways he picked up, the personality traits, the way Arjun Sen continues to speak and chat – Abhishek has captured everything. In the film, Arjun says he hates manipulation, but he constantly manipulates with his body language. Abhishek has deeply linked to this contradiction. It touched him personally, and he immersed himself so completely that we have never seen Abhishek Bachchan on the set – only Arjun Sen.
Tell me something about work with Abhishek.
When I met him for the first time, beyond being a fantastic actor, I discovered that he was a beautiful human being and a complete gentleman. He is so competent. He already understood a lot on the aspects of medical sciences in Arjun history – the surgeries he suffered, his relationship with his daughter. Abhishek has absorbed everything in his performance. As a father myself, I could feel how deeply he was connected to this element. This made its representation even more truthful.
Do you think more people should look I want to talk?
Absolutely. This price is richly deserved, but I really want more people watching the film. Many audiences have still not seen it, and they should. Abhishek has shown how a deeply talented artistic interpreter is. I hope this recognition will make people recognize the big actor that he is really.
