Amitabh Bachchan, as every year, expressed his devotion to Lord Ganesha by contributing to the most popular Pandal Ganpati in Mumbai, Lalbaugcha Raja. The veteran actor, who is a regular visitor to the sanctuary with his family, has made a generous RS 11 Lakh offering this year.

A video shared by the famous photographer Viral Bhayani has shown that the secretary of Lalbaugcha Raja, Sudhir Salvi, holding a check worth RS 11 Lakh near the Grande Idol of Lord Ganesha. The legend accompanying the video said: “Amitabh Bachchan Ji generously gave RS 11 Lakh to Lalbaugcha Raja, received by Southhir Salvi Ji secretary!”
While many have recognized the gesture as a brand of faith, a section of social media users expressed its disapproval. Several Internet users have argued that the donation could have been oriented towards rescue efforts for states with serious floods, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu.
A user commented: “Punjab Ke Liye Karte in Zyada Khushi Milti”. Another wrote: “Kya Faida Idhar Karne Ka? Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu-And-Cachemir suffer from the worst moment with the floods … He should give it.
A different comment said: “Ye Câise Waha gives Karo Jaha Sabse Zyada Zarorat Hai. Itni Baadh Aayi Hai Jaha-Jaha Bhi Vaha Sabse Zyada Zarorat Hai. Bhagwan Ke Paas at Sab Kuch Hai. ” Echoing the similar feelings, another user added: “Ameer Ameer Ho Rahe Hain, Gareeb Aur Gareeb Ho Rahe Hain”.
