The future of the popular Tanu Weds Manu The franchise struck a legal roadblock. Eros International Media Limited affirmed his total property of the rights to films, publishing a solid opinion to the filmmaker Aanand L. Rai after reports that he had started to work on the third episode.

According to the opinion, Eros declared himself the only and exclusive owner of all negative rights, intellectual property rights, copyright, adaptation rights and exploitation rights of the two Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Tanu Weds Manu returns (2015). The company stressed that these rights belong to them in perpetuity, in all territories around the world, including India.
Legal communication also stresses that Eros is already producing another franchise payment. It raises concerns concerning the affirmations according to which hearings are carried out by other parties for a supposed continuation of the franchise, which categorically subscribes an offense. The opinion also warns that any entity trying to deal with rights with parties other than Eros would violate its legal property and that the company reserves the right to take the appropriate measures against such unauthorized exploitation.
The development has left discouraged fans because the possibility of seeing Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan meet on the screen seems darkened. The chemistry of the two stars was one of the greatest highlights of the franchise. The first film, directed by Aanand L. Rai, told Tanu’s unconventional love story (Kangana Ranaut), a lively young woman, and Manu (R. Madhavan), a simple doctor from the NRI.
