Sanjay Gupta SLAMS modern film marketing gimmicks; calls promotional music videos “thing of the past” : Bollywood News

The filmmaker Sanjay Gupta shared his reflections on the evolution of the film’s promotion landscape, declaring that promotional clips are now widely exceeded. The director, who was one of the pioneers of special clips to market his films, expressed his opinions in a two -part tweet on September 20, 2025.

In his first tweet, Gupta wrote: “I was probably the first producer / director to shoot special clips to promote my films. But they were different moments. We only had films and music channels to promote. Today, I think that is a thing in the past. The public will not be impressed by a flashy video.”
He followed with a second tweet, strengthening his position: “We must accept that the way in which visits to shopping centers make no difference for the opening clips of a film, but also sexy and attractive – will not oblige the public to go to the theater. The only draw is the uniqueness of your trailer and its connection.
Gupta has often expressed film promotions, stressing that the main elements of a film – its trailer, its story and its global appeal – are really extravagant marketing gadgets.
Reflecting on his previous comments after the release of SaiyaaraGUPTA welcomed the decision to limit the appearances of the main actors in interviews, podcasts and pre-liberation promotions. On his X account, he wrote: “When anyone decided to keep the head of the head of Saiyaara Far from all interviews, appearances and predilection podcasts is a genius. They kept the freshness exclusively for the big screen. And look at how it worked. “”
He criticized what he described as the corporatization of cinematographic marketing, adding: “The cinema affairs worked gently. Then, the companies came and tried to rewrite the rules of the game. GUPTA also underlined the film industry in southern India as a model: “The South has never followed the practice of p & A stupid. They did very well. More than well.
