In a historic decision for the distribution of the Indian film, Aamir Khan announced the world digital release of his latest theatrical film Sitaare Zameen by Exclusively on Youtube from August 1, 2025. The film, which has experienced a successful race at the box office, will now be available via the film service on the demand of Youtube, marking a strategic change in the way the main Indian films reach the post-theatrical version of the public.

Now confirming development, Khan said: “In the past 15 years, I was struggling with the challenge of the way to reach the public who does not have geographic access to theaters … With YouTube being on most of the devices, we can finally reach large sections of people in India and an important part of the world.”
Sitaare Zameen byDirected by RS Prasanna and written by Divy Nidhi Sharma, presents Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh and introduces ten actors with intellectual disabilities in key roles. Described as a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen by (2007), the film tackles the themes of love, laughter and inclusiveness, resonating with a large audience during its theatrical race.
The film will be at the price of RS.100 in India and will be deployed in 38 international markets, notably the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia, with localized prices. The subtitles and versions doubled in several languages will be offered to expand accessibility.
Gunjan Soni, director general of the country of Youtube India, said: “The digital launch of Sitaare Zameen by Exclusively on YouTube underlines an important step towards democratizing the distribution of Indian films on a global scale. “”
Notably, Sitaare Zameen by Will not be published on any other digital platform, making YouTube its exclusive streaming destination. The availability of the film via Pay-Per-View aims to transform domestic devices into “janta ka theater”, targeting viewers who missed the film in cinemas or prefer digital convenience.
Aamir Khan Productions plans to continue this digital approach with future titles, strengthening the evolutionary role of YouTube beyond the trailers and music with full films. Khan also produces future films Lahore 1947 with sunny sun and EK DIN With Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi.
India leading in digital payments and the penetration of the Internet, the Khan movement signals a new chapter in the distribution of the film – where the scope, affordability and flexibility converge to reshape access to the public.
