Abishek Porel, Delhi Capitals (DC) goalkeeper, highlighted the positive influence of the mentor of the Kevin Pietersen team, even though the franchise faces a stiff ascent in the race for the series of the Indian Premier (IPL). Porel, which was not incoherent in the Delhi campaign, stressed the importance of Pietersen’s mentorship, especially during the difficult phases. “The experience with Kevin Pietersen was really good,” Porel said at the post-match press conference.
“He tells us what should be done and what should not, and he always appreciates us when we do well, but the biggest is the support it offers when things are not going well. Not just him, all the management of the team supports us during the difficult moments and keeps reminding us that we still have a chance to bounce,” he added.
Delhi Capitals had started the tournament on a promising note, guaranteeing four consecutive victories and building early momentum. However, their shape won a nose, with only two victories in the last eight games. The defeat against Gujarat, which hunted an intimidating target of 200 points without losing a counter, still bump the hopes of the Delhi qualifiers.
Currently placed fifth on the point table with six wins, five defeats and one without result, Delhi still has two games in the league phase. Although the qualification remains mathematically possible, they will not only have to win the two games, but also hope for favorable results in other devices.
