“Absolute Inspiration”: Shubman Gill’s Heartfelt Post As Rohit Sharma Retires From Test Cricket

The opener of India and vice-captain Odi Shubman Gill said Thursday that he will forever remember the lessons he learned from Rohit Sharma who announced his retirement from the trial cricket. Rohit called time during his test career on Wednesday with just over a month for the Indian tour of England, which will be their first assignment of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-2027 cycle. The 25 -year -old Gill, who is widely considered a favorite for the role of the next Test captain of India, said in an article on social networks that Rohit was an “inspiration” for his teammates and his opponents.
“India is grateful for what you have done during tests as a player and captain,” wrote Gill in an Instagram post.
“You have been an absolute inspiration for me and all those who played with you or against you. There are things that I have learned from you that I will remember forever.”
“Happy withdrawing to @ rohitsharma45 one of the best captains in which I played. Thank you Cap!”, He added.

Gill, who is a regular element in the Indian teams through the formats, was appointed assistant from Rohit to Odis before the Champions Trophy that India had won.
