After the release of their film Sky Force, Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya actors went beyond the screen to have a real impact. The film was based on the life of the squadron chief Ab Devayya, the only officer of the Indian Air Force posthumously awarded the Mahavir chakra. Maked by their history, they played a crucial role by helping to recover the medal of Chakra Mahavir of Devayya.

During the shooting, Veer developed a close relationship with the Devayya family. It was during this period that he and Akshay Kumar learned the missing medal, which had been stolen at the family’s home years ago – a loss that had deeply impacting the family, especially Devayya’s wife, Sundari.
“For mom, the medal was a symbol of my father’s courage and had held a place of pride on his dresser,” said Preetha Devayya, his daughter, in a press note issued by the family.
Before the film’s release, Veer, who depicted the role of the leader of the Ab Devayya squadron, met the family. After discovering this, the two actors decided to personally take the mission of recovering the medal. “He, with Akshay, took the matter to recover the precious medal,” added Preetha.
During an emotional ceremony held to command the formation of the Indian Air Force in Bengaluru, the medal was finally returned to the family. Marshal Tejinder Singh Avsm VM officially returned it to Sundari Devayya.
“The Mahavir chakra is back home,” said Preetha on Instagram, calling the event “a very special moment for our family”.
Speaking of the impact of the moment, she added: “She (the mother) is so touched, so emotional. She continues to say that she finally feels complete. After all these years, there is peace in her heart.”
Thinking about the experience, Veer Pahariya said: “This is why I chose to be an actor … to spread love, make a difference and leave myself a little of me in each story.”
Of the broadcast of the history of the leader of the Devayya squadron on the screen and helping to restore a lost song of its inheritance, Strength of the sky has become more than a simple film.
