Rohit Sharma Achieves Historic Feat As MI Defeat RR To Take Top Spot

The Mumbai Indian drummer, Rohit Sharma, is now the second player to score more than 6000 points for a single franchise in the T20 cricket. Rohit reached this milestone in the match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between the Indians of Mumbai (Mi) and the Royals of Rajasthan at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur on Thursday. Rohit Sharma is the biggest scorer in the history of IPL for Mi. He played 231 games for Mumbai. With a total of 6024 points for Mi, Rohit is second after Virat Kohli, who runs the list with 8,871 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Rohit scored a brilliant 53 out of 36 balls before being dismissed by Riyan Parag. His sleeves were dotted with nine limits. It was his third fifty of the current IPL.
After a slow start in the first half of the 2025 IPL, where Rohit only made 56 points in his first five games, Rohit recovered with 234 points in his five previous rounds, with two fifty and 53 against RR on Thursday.
The veteran of the Mumbai Indians rediscovers its form precisely when its team requires it most in this crucial phase.
Mi has set up a dominant total of 217/2 against RR Thursday, thanks to a good start by the openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, followed by a flamboyant finish of Suryakumar Yadav and the captain Mi Hardya.
The Opectors of MI took a flying start, raising the 50 of the team in just 5.2 letters and ending the power game at 58 years without loss. Rickelton was the first to reach his half-century, arriving there in 29 bullets, while Rohit followed shortly after with 50 deliveries of 31.
The duo sewn an opening partnership of 116 points before the Sri-Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana made the breakthrough, rejecting Rickelton for 61 (38 balls), a shot with seven limits and three.
Rohit left shortly after 53 (36 bullets), including nine four, falling to the Rajasthan skipper, Riyan Parag. However, there was no respite for the Royals while Suryakumar Yadav and Hhelik Pandya took care of the second half of the sleeves.
The pair added an undefeated partnership of 94 points, the two strikers finishing on identical scores of 48, the races in 23 balls each. Suryakumar sealed the sleeves in style, launching a six of the final delivery. He and Pandya did not stay outside.
Only Theekshana and Parag managed to collect a counter each for the hosts. The Royals have an intimidating task to come.
