Amazon Prime Video DENIES making edits in OTT version of Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen: Report : Bollywood News
The current controversy surrounding Shekhar Kapur Bandit Queen took a new turn because the video premium officially denied the claims of the filmmaker of unauthorized modifications to the film on their platform. The streaming giant specified that they had made no modification to the film and that the version currently available on their service is that provided by the film distributor, NH Studioz.

In response to Kapur allegations, Prime Video published a statement, as Times Now reported, declaring: “Prime Video has made no modification to the film version Bandit Queen Streaming currently on service. The version available on Prime Video is the version provided by the film distributor, NH Studioz. »»
This clarification comes after Kapur went to X (formerly Twitter) to express his dissatisfaction, claiming that his film had been considerably modified on the streaming platform without his knowledge or consent.
Shekhar Kapur’s strong reaction
The controversy started when Kapur, while discussing the adolescence of the Netflix series, raised concerns about how the OTT platforms treat Indian filmmakers. He posted: “I wonder @iamsudhirmishra if the OTT platforms allowed me to make #Banditqueen as I did years ago. The Bandit Queen on #AMAZONPRIME is unrecognizable from my film. Someone cut it beyond recognition. And yet he bears my name as a director. And nobody asked me for a film less than Western directors?

Kapur continued his criticism with a detailed article on the meticulous process of cinema and publishing. He questioned the motivations behind the modification of the film and deplored the potential impact on performance and music, mentioning in particular the contributions of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to the soundtrack. “Have you even thought about the love we give for our art? Have you thought about how the beautiful work of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was affected when you have so negligently massacred the film? Or the performances of the actors’ film? Because you were not there when we shot the film of 50 punishing degrees.”
He concluded with a sharp remark on the treatment of Indian filmmakers, declaring: “Because we are Indian filmmakers … So who cares?”

What is the next step?
With the privileged video refuting Kapur’s claims, the spotlights are now moving to NH Studioz, the film distributor, for more clarification. It remains to be seen how Kapur will react to the declaration of the platform and if additional measures will be taken.
