Bangladesh Batter Soumya Sarkar Ruled Out Of T20I Against Pakistan, Replacement Named




Bangladesh’s striker, Soumya Sarkar, was excluded from the June T20 series against Pakistan due to a back injury. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who plays for Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 2025 playoffs, was appointed Thursday as his replacement, according to Espncricinfo on Thursday. Pakistan will welcome Bangladesh for a T20 series with three games from May 28, the Bangladesh team is expected to arrive in Lahore on May 25, three days before the opening. Tourist training sessions are scheduled for May 26 and 27 to ensure optimal preparation for the series.

Soumya missed the three T20is against the United Arab Emirates in Sharjah, a Bangladesh series lost 2-1, and the team physio, Bayjedul Islam Khan, said that he would need a few weeks to recover.

“After a medical assessment, it was determined that the injury requires a prolonged rehabilitation period of approximately 10 to 12 days,” said Bayjedul. “It actually means that he will not be available for the three -game series next week in Pakistan,” said Bayjedul Islam Khan.

Mehidy was excluded from the T20I team that the Bangladesh selectors had chosen for the water tour and Pakistan.

However, Mehidy had a successful campaign of 2024-25. In addition to taking three features of five gates and scoring a century in the series of tests against Zimbabwe, he was also appointed player of the Bangladesh Premier League tournament (BPL) 2025 for his 355 points and 13 counters.

Mehidy is with his compatriots Shakib Al Hasan and rishad Hospi in the Qalandars team, and he will join the Bangladesh team in Lahore after his PSL commitments.
