BCCI Calls On A “Highly Influential Cricketing Figure” To Stop Virat Kohli’s Potential Test Retirement: Report

The Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) called a very influential cricket figure to meet the Talismanic striker in the coming days and convince him to reverse his potential pension plans for test cricket. On Saturday, Ians reported that Kohli would have communicated his desire to withdraw from the test cricket at the BCCI before the large series of five games in England, from June 20. But the BCCI had urged Kohli to reconsider its decision, citing the important assignments to come in the format, including the tour in England.
“Yes, to convince Virat Kohli to reconsider its test pension potential tests of test cricket, the BCCI called a very influential cricket figure to speak to the Talismanic cricket player in the coming days and convince him to extend his career in the longest format, in particular by considering the Tour of England,” said sources in Ians.
The Five Matter Test Match Tour in England also marks the start of a new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) for them. This agency also understands that thoughts were initially on Kohli who did not want to be part of the team for the tour in England, but it appeared that he planned to leave the format he always liked to play, like the known of his vocal words around him while captain of India in 68 tests.
“This very influential cricket figure was also the one who also spoke to Rohit Sharma, although it was a completely different scenario because he then announced his retirement from the tests.”
“Although Kohli is a person who does not really change an opinion quickly, the words of the very influential cricket figure can have some influence on his decision -making and his thoughts on his cricket future,” added sources.
Since its beginnings in the format in 2011, Kohli has played 123 tests, Amassing 9230 has been an average of 46.85. But if Kohli does not retract on the reflections on the retreat of the tests, then India will be terribly short of experience in their Test of England in the absence of him and Rohit.
While Rohit’s retirement will make Kl Rahul and Shubman Gill the most experienced strikers of the first -rate order, the potential end of Kohli of his test career means that Rishabh Pant will become the most experienced striker of the average order. Gill, meanwhile, was largely cited as a favorite to be the next test skipper in a race that also has Rahul, Pant and Jasprit Bumrah as other candidates.
Kohli and Rohit both withdrew from T20is after India won the male T20 World Cup last year at Barbados. If Kohli continues to withdraw from the tests, the veteran duo will then be available to play for India only in ODI Cricket.
Meanwhile, IANS also understands that the “A” team of India for the England tour should be selected by the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar in the coming days. India “A” should play three four -day games against the Lions of England, from May 30 in Canterbury.
