Ahmedabad will host the final of the Indian Premier League on June 3 with the qualifier 2 while Mullanpur will stage the first two-playing games this month, the BCCI announced on Tuesday. Given the monsoon, the BCCI also moved the May 23 match between the Royaux Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bengaluru in Lucknow. The last match at the Chinnaswamy stadium was washed. Hyderabad and Kolkata were supposed to welcome the play-offs in accordance with the original dates, but the IPL calendar had to be revised following the India-Pakistan military conflict which interrupted the event for a week. The BCCI also took into account the monsoon season before deciding on the sites. “The new places in the playoffs have been decided by the IPL governance council, keeping in mind the weather and other parameters,” the BCCI said in a statement.
More time for the remaining matches extended at 120 minutes
The BCCI has also increased the additional time to finish the matches 120 minutes from the existing time. The measure was crossed by considering unpredictable time.
Previously, 120 minutes of additional time were only reserved for the playoffs and not for the championship matches.
“Similar to the scene of the playoffs, an additional hour will be allocated to the game conditions for the remaining matches of the league scene, from Tuesday May 20,” added the statement.
The qualifier 1 and the eliminator take place in Mullanpur on May 29 and 30 while Hmedabad will organize the qualifier 2 and final on June 1 and 3. Ahmedabad had welcomed the IPL final in 2022 and 2023.
The announcement of the IPL calendar also allowed Punjab Kings to play their opening at home. Punjab Kings qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
RCB and Gujarat titans have also made qualifiers.
