The star of the Indian Cricket team, Virat Kohli, amazed everyone by announcing his Test Cricket retirement. Kohli, who is considered one of the best strikers in modern cricket, withdrew from the longest format of sport as a successful captain in India. Overall, he was the fourth successful test captain in the word before saying goodbye in the format. While many speculations already exist on Kohli’s decision, a report of Sports today said the BCCI had let the captain heard again to appoint a captain but decided not to go ahead with the call. According to the report, Virat gave an index that he could become captain again during the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia.
“At least, people close to him seem to suggest that he had a sort of smaller clue that he would get a captain after Adelaide. But then things changed,” said the report.
However, after the 3-1 defeat of India against Australia in the five game series, BCCI made a full turn and would have decided to start the process to look for a young captain.
According to the report, Kohli hoped to become captain again and it was one of the main reasons why he played the Ranji trophy match for Delhi against the railways, as mandated by the BCCI.
Meanwhile, arrested by the recent border tensions of India-Pakistan, the IPL will resume on Saturday with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Kolkata Knight Riders in a high challenge competition where the spotlights will be firmly on Virat Kohli after his recent test retirement.
The unexpected 10 -day break has left the RCB and the KKR with different objectives to be achieved and current challenges to do.
The RCB is second on the table with 16 points of 11 games, and a victory here can propel them to the playoffs.
KKR is sixth on the table with 11 points of 12 games, and a discharge will evaporate the hopes of the champions in title to do the ko.
