When the veteran actor Boman Irani launched his writing initiative linked during the pandemic, he became a creative refuge for emerging storytellers. Among the first voices to flower in this space was Palak Malav Shah, a promising writer now shaking her own niche with an inimitable mixture of emotional honesty and ironic humor.

Palak’s latest work is the short film Momo Deal, produced by Royal Stag Barre select of great short films, produced by Dheeraj Jindal, and with Anushka Kaushik and Akashdeep Arora. The tender and full -minded story follows Naman, a calm young man facing the sudden loss of his best friend Mahima – until his ghost returned overnight to Jaipur to share a last plate of Momos, transforming the sorrow into moments of unexpected laughs.
During his first film special, Boman Irani and members of the Spiral Bound writing community proved to be in full support. Sharing his thoughts after watching the short film, Boman Irani said: “It is really comforting to see so many spiral limits here today, to support each other, and that, for me, is one of the most comforting things. I am very proud of what life is quite. Friendship, love and philosophy of life and existence in this short film.
The writer Palak Shah shares: “Momo Deal was written at a time when my longer scripts were taken in endless approval and commentary cycles. I missed the joy of seeing the words come to life on the screen. So I wrote something small, intimate and real. No twists and turns, no waterfalls – just the truth “,”
The film has already traveled internationally, being an official selection at the Garofano Rosso Film Festival in Italy, at Accra Indie Filmfest in Ghana, and even more. Now available on YouTube.

Palak’s journey as a writer has just started. She is currently developing a feature with Divyang Thakkar (director, Jayeshbhai Jordaar), a drama commanded by Netflix with Balaji Telefilms, and another feature with a leading filmmaker. In an industry often obsessed with the show, his work is proof that you do not need noise to create an impact – you just need to mean every word you write.
