‘Break All Cricket Ties With Pakistan’: Ex-BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Blunt After Pahalgam Terrorist Attack

The former Indian captain and cricket control council in India (BCCI), Surav Ganguly, said India should break all cricket ties with Pakistan. Ganguly spoke to Ani in Kolkata. Over the years, India and Pakistan have only met in ICC events, such as the T20 and 50 compared to the World Cups, the ICC champions trophy and the Asian Cup events (ACC) – ACC). Addressing Ani, Ganguly said: “100%, this (the links that break with Pakistan) should be done. Strict action is necessary. It is not a joke that such things occur every year. Terrorism cannot be tolerated.”
Due to the political relations tense between the two nations, India has not visited Pakistan since 2008, when they participated in the Asian Cup. Two-Rivals played a bilateral series in 2012-13 in India for the last time, including white ball games.
During the recently organized ICC champions trophy, India did not trace in Pakistan; Instead, they played all their matches in Dubai under a hybrid model.
In addition, the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah, has decided on the hybrid model for all CPI events during cycle 2024-27, which will be held in India or Pakistan.
Following the vile terrorist attack in Pahalgam which killed 26 people, the central government has announced several diplomatic measures, such as the closure of the integrated check (ICP) to Attari, by suspending the Saarc visa exemption program (SVES) for the Pakistani national, giving them 40 hours to return to their country and reduce the number of officers parts.
The vice-president of the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI), Rajeev, Shukla, strengthened that India will not play any bilateral cricket against Pakistan following the terrorist attack in the Pahalgamo of Cashmere. India and Pakistan have not played as a bilateral series since 2012-13, when Pakistan went to India for a limited series. India went for the last time to Pakistan in 2008. The only time the two teams are faced was in international competitions with Pakistan in India for the ODI 2023 World Cup. However, India refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions 2025 trophy and their matches – including the match against Pakistan and the final – took place in Dubai.
“We are with the victims and we condemn it. All our government will say, we will do it. We will not play with Pakistan in the bilateral series because of the government stand. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals in the future. But when it comes to the ICC event,” he told the ICC a commitment.
