Top Seed Alexander Zverev Ready To Win Again In Indian Wells

The world’s number two Alexander Zverev, going up above a finalist at Jannik Sinner at Australian Open, aims to return things to Indian Wells after three difficult tournaments in February. “It was a South American swing for me,” said German on Wednesday when he was preparing to launch his campaign during the combined ATP tournament and WTA in the California desert. “I fell sick by two weeks out of three, which is not great. But I wanted to do clay. I wanted to play this swing. I heard so many great things about it, so I wanted to experience it once.”
Zverev said that he hoped to have a step ahead of his preparations for the clay season.
But he lost in the quarter -finals of Clay Court tournaments in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, then went to the north and fell in the second round of the hard court tournament in Acapulco, Mexico, to the American teenage learner.
In Buenos Aires, he was struck by food poisoning. He said that he had a hard time facing the hot conditions in Rio and that he fell ill at Acapulco where “many players fell ill”.
“Nor did I play an excellent tennis,” he said. “Maybe it was not the right thing to do at the end, especially after reaching the Australian Open final, might have had to stay a little longer on the field.”
Now it is back for the first stage of the “Double Sunshine” of hard court tournaments which will continue with the Miami Open.
He was first classified, the sinner sidelined by a late drug ban by three months, and said he felt fit and ready to face.
“I always feel positive,” he said. “I always think I had a good start to the season. If you look back, I have reached another Grand Slam final. But of course, I want to regain my rhythm and I want to start the tennis matches again.
“Right now, I’m feeling good,” he added. “It took time, but I feel good.”
