“Call All Foreign Players”: BCCI’s Blunt Message To Franchises As IPL 2025 Restart Looms – Report

The Cricket Control Council in India has informed the ten franchises of the Premier Indian League (IPL) to call all their foreign players to return to India, as a decision on the resumption of the 18th edition of the League in cash soon arrives, according to BCCI sources. Last week, the BCCI announced that the rest of the tournament had been suspended for a week, citing cross -border tensions between India and Pakistan. The sources of the BCCI revealed on Monday that the tournament is about to return to the routine life of cricket fans and said: “BCCI informed all IPL franchises to call all their foreign players to return as a decision on the resumption of IPL will soon arrive.”
After the tensions intensified between the two neighboring nations, the match between the capital of Punjab and Delhi at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium in Dharamshala was canceled halfway last Thursday. The spectators were informed of the cancellation and asked to leave the premises, while the two teams were escorted at their hotel.
According to recent developments, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad were chosen as places for the 16 matches remaining for the 18th season. Recently, a BCCI source revealed a possibility of a change in the place for the final.
Originally, the final was to take place on May 25 at the emblematic of Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, due to the prediction of the rain, a decision can be made to modify the place for the luminaire to the trophy decision.
“The last place could be changed because the rain can affect the matches in Kolkata later, so this call will be made accordingly,” an official of the BCCI told Ani.
Overall, 57 games were completed in IPL 2025, and the 58th match between the capital of Punjab and Delhi was canceled after 10.1 overs.
