Chelsea strengthened her attempt to qualify for the Champions League with a 3-1 victory while Liverpool suffered a premier League wood at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The Enzo Maresca team took the lead thanks to the first strike from Enzo Fernandez to Stamford Bridge. The goal of Jarell Quansah’s second half was followed by Virgil Van Dijk’s late response to Liverpool. Cole Palmer’s downtime penalty sentenced the champions to his third championship defeat this season. While the dull of Liverpool did not have much to play after winning a record English crown and equal to a 5-1 rout of Tottenham last weekend, Chelsea was encouraged to obtain three invaluable points.
In the hope of going back to the Champions League via a top five, the blues are in fifth place, at the point level with Newcastle, fourth after their 1-1 draw in Brighton earlier on Sunday.
Nottingham Forest, sixth, will join Chelsea and Newcastle on 63 points if they beat Crystal Palace on Monday.
Manchester City, third, is only a Chelsea point and, with three games to play, the Battle of the Top Five is planned for an exciting final.
Chelsea is back in action in the semi-final of the UEFA conference league against Djurgardens on Thursday, the Blues holding an advance of 4-1 which should be enough to send them to the first final of the reign of Maresca.
The only other losses of Liverpool League in a triumphant campaign came against Nottingham Forest in September and Fulham in April.
During another unsuccessful journey in western London, Arne Slot’s men played as if the title of title had left them groggy.
Chelsea players aligned themselves to give Liverpool an honor guard when the Reds walked on the field before kick -off.

Palmer made his way in front of Kostas Tsimikas in the Liverpool region for a low crossing that Madueke could not convert.
In the race that followed, Van Dijk made a hasty clearance which struck Quansah and rebounded in the net.
Alisson Becker saved Jadon Sancho well before Palmer strikes the post while Chelsea turns the screw.
Van Dijk struck a head in front of Robert Sanchez from the corner of the 85th minute of Mac Allister.
But it was too late to save Liverpool from a rare defeat while Quansah tripped in Moises Caicedo and Palmer converted the penalty for his first goal since January.
