Written and directed by Mehran Amrohi, Chidiya is a memory, a silent tribute to the invisible battles that children fight to keep their dreams alive. Located in the lived world of a Chawl Mumbai, the story follows two animated brothers, Shanu and Bua, who transform a dump into a fortune court court. With only the imagination, the hope and help of their mother and their community, they continue a much bigger dream than their situation.
What makes this film even more special is his journey – Chidiya was completed almost a decade ago and traveled through international festivals, quietly winning hearts and distinctions. With a cast led by Vinay Pathak, Amrutha Subhash, Inaamulhaq, Brijendra Kala and the children outside competitions Svar Kamble, Ayush Pathak and Hétal Gada, the film combines poetic realism with emotional clarity. The music is from Shailendra Barve, with distribution of reliance Entertainment.
Finished almost a decade ago, Chidiya has already made its mark at international festivals, notably Zlin IFF (Czech Republic), Cinekid (Netherlands), Saiff (United States), Spirit of Fire IFF (Russia) and IFF for children and adults (Iran).
