Dani Alves Accuser Appeals Rape Conviction Overturn

The woman who accuses Dani Alves of having called on him on Monday the reversal of the conviction of the former Brazil and Barcelona Star who triggered the indignation in Spain, said her lawyer. Alves, 41, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in February of last year after being convicted of having raped a young woman in the VIP bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub on December 31, 2022. But a court of appeal from Barcelona canceled the decision of the lower court on March 28, saying that the Alves had been incompetent and contradicable, and that there was insufficient evidence Alves. The lawyer for the complainant Ester Garcia told journalists on Monday that the call “had been filed today, who was the last day he could be submitted”.
“For strategy reasons, the reasons why we attract will not be made public.”
The prosecutor’s office in the northeast region of Catalonia announced last week that it would also appeal the decision.
A demonstration called by feminist groups in reaction to the decision attracted hundreds of people in Barcelona last week and members of the Spanish left government also weighed.
Deputy Prime Minister Maria Jesus Montero said it was “one step back” and that it was a “shame” the testimony of a rape victim “is always questioned”.
Alves was detained in prison of his arrest in January 2023 until March 2024, when he was released while waiting for his appeal after having deposited the deposit of one million euros (1.1 million dollars) set by the courts.
The former right back was a basic member of a fully conquering Barcelona team, affirming three crowns of the Champions League and six titles La Liga with the Catalan giants.
He also won league titles with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain as well as 126 caps for Brazil in a sparkling career.
