Dhanush to portray Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in biopic announced at Cannes Film Festival 2025 : Bollywood News
A biopic on Bharat Ratna, Dr. Apj Abdul Kalam, the 11th Indian President and renamed aerospace scientist, was officially announced to the 2025 Cannes Festival. Fire wingsThe film will be directed by Om Raut, known for Tanhaji: the unknown warriorAnd featured the award -winning national actor Dhanush in the main role.

The project brings together major names from the Indian film industry which includes Abhishek Agarwal under Abhishek Agarwal Arts – The banner behind Cashmere files – and Bhushan Kumar under the banner of the T series which will meet to produce the film. The scenario is written by Saiwyn Quadras, whose previous writing credits include Neerja,, MaidaanAnd Parmanu: the story of Pokhran.
The film aims to trace the extraordinary course of Dr. Kalam – from his modest beginnings in Rameswaram to his ascent as one of the most respected scientific spirits in India and, finally, the president of the country. Often called “Man of India missile”, Dr. Kalam’s heritage continues to inspire generations, especially through his “Wings of Fire” memories.
The Dhanush cast in the titular role is described as one of the key moments of the film. The actor, who has been acclaimed for his versatility and emotional depth, will represent a figure deeply darling by the nation. The film is positioned not only as a political biography, but as an exploration of Dr. Kalam’s values - science, spirituality, education and leadership.
Director Om Raut, in a statement, said: “In an era hungry for real statesmen, Kalam was held above politics and meanness. He was a man known for the power of education, excellence and native innovation. It is the most important of my life. ”
Producer Abhishek Agarwal added: “We are delighted to bring the epic life of Dr. Kalam to the big screen. Collaborating with Om Raut, Dhanush and Bhushan Kumar makes this one of the most prestigious projects in Indian cinema. It is a privilege to tell this story. ”

This marks our third collaboration with Om Raut, and our first with Dhanush and Abhishek Agarwal on a story of national meaning. ”
With current production, other details remain under the Wraps. However, with the cinematic vision of Om Raut, the performance of Dhanush and the support of two large production houses, Fire wings is positioned as a biopic with global scope and national relevance.
