Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol starrer to be immortalized with bronze statue in Leicester Square, London : Bollywood News

In a historical moment for Indian cinema, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) will be the first Indian film to be honored with a bronze statue on Leicester Square in London. The statue, featuring the main stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in an emblematic pose of the 1995 film, will be installed this spring as part of the film “Scenes de la square” film.

The announcement by Heart of London Business Alliance also marks the start of DDLJ 30 -year celebrations. Directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films, the romantic drama is considered one of the most successful Hindi films of all time. The statue will be positioned outside of Odeon’s cinema on the eastern terrace of Leicester Square – a location which also briefly appears in the film during a scene where Raj and Simran intersect for the first time. The other London locations presented in DDLJ include King’s Cross Station, Tower Bridge, Hyde Park and Horseguards Avenue.

The statue will join other notable characters in the path, including Harry Potter, Laurel & Hardy, Gene Kelly, M. Bean, Mary Poppins and more. As part of the DDLJ in progress, a new scene adaptation Come and fall in love – the musical DDLJ is also planned for the first at the Manchester Opera on May 29, 2025.
