Trent Boult’s Blunt Take On Facing Vaibhav Suryavanshi In RR vs MI: “Bowled To Some Brilliant…”

The mumbai Indian stimulator, Trent Boult, described the prospect of facing Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, as “exciting”, but said that it was not something that would “worry” on a game of Flat Sawai Mansingh stadium. Suryavanshi, 14, wrote his name in history books, hitting a 101 of 38 bullets against Gujarat Titans to become the youngest to mark a ton in the male IPL and cricket. Its 35 -ball sleeves were also the fastest second ton in the tournament.

“(I) kicked shiny drummers from around the world, the Gayles Chris, the ABs of Villiers, all the quality that comes to these tournaments. I will be careful not to say that I am worried about a 14 -year -old,” Boult told the media on the eve of Mi’s Clash against RR here.

“But it’s going to be an exciting challenge to come to a guy who is obviously fearless and in hot form for the moment, so that’s what it is.

“The whole world has seen this performance the other evening. (It was a) quality (hitting) of such a young child. It is the beauty of this tournament, of all the players who come out and take advantage of it with both hands and I thought it did it very well.” Boult said that his experience and knowledge of the height and the conditions here would hold them in “Good Stead”.

“No, I don’t do it as a bowling player,” he said when he was asked if he anticipated another match at high scoring in this place.

“It is a field at high score; the story says that. It is a solid counter with a very fast outside field. I had the chance to discover the field in the last three seasons, so I hope that I can put this experience in good place during the next game,” added Boult.

The Indians of Mumbai languished at the penultimate place at a time earlier in the season, but they turned their fortune with five consecutive victories.

“No team is trying to start a bad start, trying to lose games in the first half of the tournament. The T20 cricket is just this type of game,” he said.

“(We) we are approaching a few games, you watch some limits here or there, saved or won can make the difference in this format, so take the learning, try better.

“Many teams talk about getting one or two percent better. There is probably a little more room for us there to get five or ten percent to better and continue to go,” he added.

Boult said Jasprit Bumrah, who had taken a four of their Lucknow’s Super Giants victory during the last outing, has raised the team since his return.

“He is a leader in the side, obviously a very experienced bowling player and he does a large part of the wheel for our team and he has definitely raised the group since his return to the team. To move forward, he will also play a big role for us,” he said.

Boult said that Mi had benefited from different players who put vital performances.

“(The) guys got up in different games. There have been different performances that contributed throughout the season and that is what it is. If everyone wants, or this desire to want to get up and put a good performance, it is generally a good recipe to succeed in T20 cricket,” he said.

“(We) would have loved starting stronger, but there have been good discussions throughout the season and overthrowing our form in the last four or five games and winning five consecutive games is a great feeling.”
