After Rohit Sharma’s Sudden Test Retirement, This 25-Year-Old ‘Being Considered’ For Captaincy: Sources

Rohit Sharma has retired from the Cricket test. The star striker announced on Wednesday the decision before the tour of the Indian cricket team in England, which begins on June 20. Rohit, who until Wednesday was the designated test of India and Captain Odi, was to lead the team during his next tour which includes five games in the longest format. It will also be the start of India’s campaign in the 2025-27 world test championship cycle. Before the tour in England, sources told NDTV that Rohit would be deleted as the test of the Indian Cricket team. In particular, under the direction of Rohit, India won the T20 2024 World Cup and the Champions 2025 trophy.

“Shubman Gill is speaking / considered for the captain. There will be some additional changes because this WTC cycle will not return. They will not return.

Earlier, a report of The Indian Expresssaid that the decision of the Limoger Rohit selectors (before announcing his retirement) had nothing to do with the transition or a call to withdraw aging players from the team. He added that the verdict was made on the basis of Rohit’s bad performance with the bat in the red ball cricket. The same report indicates that Rohit will continue to lead the team in ODI format.

The former chief selector of India MSK Prasad believes that the presence of Arshdeep Singh, Sai Sudharsan and Kuldeep Yadav is a must in the team for the five -game test series in England. In a recent interview, the former head coach of India, delighted Shastri, also launched his weight behind Sudharsan, who is in the middle of a stellar IPL and has a county cricket game experience.

Addressing PTI, Prasad, who was in charge of the 2016 to 2020 selection committee, also explained why Arshdeep and Kuldeep had to be there in the team. He would have the Prasidh Krishna in good shape on Akash Deep from the five pacers to choose in case the selectors choose a team of 15 men to announce in mid-May. After the retreat of R Ashwin, Washingston Sundar will be his versatile bowling alley alongside Ravirand Jadeja and Kuldeep that the former chief selector considers as a real window holder even in English friendly conditions.

That Rohit Sharma is part of the team, it is a decision which, according to Prasad, should be left to the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.

“Sai must be part of this series of England. Because this is the ideal moment because the new WTC cycle will begin.

“If Rohit is part of the team, he opens alongside Jaiswal and Sai can be the return opener. I will leave to the selectors to take this call. Sai could obtain his opportunity as the series progresses,” said the former Stumper India.

Shubman Gill is expected to beat at three years and Virat Kohli, who will again have overcome external demons outside the United Kingdom, will beat at four years. Pant is the favorite choice of Prasad as a counter in the team while KL Rahul did enough to start as a specialized in the average order, he said.
