“Doesn’t Come Across As Being The Only Voice”: Axar Patel Lauded Ahead Of DC vs RCB IPL 2025 Match

The style of Axar Patel captain puts players at an instantly comfortable and also played a massive role in the start of Delhi’s capital in this IPL season, believes that the assistant coach of the Matthew Mott team. Capitals have won three games on the rebound and is currently on pole position in the point table. “He just has an excellent balance on cricket and life. He will simply summarize the group and make sure that the players are included. They have a smile on their faces. He does not seem to be the only voice (in the team),” said Mott at the pre-match press conference here on Wednesday.

Mott said that anxar uses the experience of other senior players from the team like Kl Rahul and Faf du Plessis, a former Skipper of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

“He does not take everything on himself. He exploits many other senior players in the group. We have mentioned KL, FAF too. He has a lot of experience on which to rely, in particular FAF. We had a productive meeting around this,” he said.

Mott also evaluated Axar as a level of level that achieves the “inconsistent” nature of the cricket.

“He played enough cricket to know that it can sometimes be a fairly capricious game. You are well aware that when you win, everything is pink.

“I like to think that he has this character where if we have a bad day, he will be just as positive,” added Mott.

However, the former white-ball coach in England hoped that anxar will be used a little as a bowling player.

The left arm spinner only played eight overs in the last three games without taking a counters.

“We were probably a little surprised that he has no more bowls. He had the impression that the other queries were doing well. Someone like Vipraj (Nigam) came and was a feeling for us.

“He probably took a few overs where Axel could have moved. Given his experience and time, I felt that he had control of the game. I think that in the matches advancing, you will see it much more,” he noted.

Mott, the Australian coach winner of the World Cup, tapped Rahul for showing flexibility to beat anywhere in order.

“I thought KL in the last match was incredible to come in a short notice and play sleeves like that to really prepare for the victory. We have a number of guys who can go and open.

“I think what separates KL from many people in the group is his ability to beat anywhere. He is a class player,” he said.

By referring to what Rahul will have a continuous presence in the higher order DC, Mott said that the successful style of the other Jake Fraser-McGurk opener requires an experienced striker at the other end.

“The role that Jake plays on each side in which he is in, is a high risk, but when he has his days is what is the goal. But it has a total autonomy of all our leaders.

“He will be a player who opens up matches. We are prepared with the depth that we have to play like that,” he said.

FAF to assess

Mott said that the availability of the veteran paste of Plessis for the match against the RCB depends on its assessment of the physical condition during the nets.

The South African missed the match against Chennai’s Super Kings with an unpertified injury which later said could be a stroke of the groin.

“The beauty of the calendar so far is that he has now taken a good break. It will be assessed by the physios in order to play. It certainly seems to move much better with the naked eye,” he added.
