England Suffer Big Injury Blow For West Indies ODI Series As Star Pacer Jofra Archer Ruled Out

England Fast Bowler Jofra Archer has been excluded from the next ODI series of three games against the West Indies due to a right thumb injury, confirmed on Tuesday, May 21. Archer was also not part of the England team for the unique test against Zimbabwe, which was announced earlier this month.
“The England launcher and Sussex Pace Jofra Archer was excluded from the Metro Bank Odi series against the West Indies due to a right thumb injury,” the ECB said in an official statement. “He will be reassessed by the England medical team during the next fortnight to determine when he could return to the action.”
To cover the absence of an archer, the ECB named the seamstress of the left arm of Lancashire, 29, Luke Wood to replace the team. Wood, who impressed in limited opportunities with his rhythm and versatility, will seek to seize this chance on the floor at home.
Wood recently appeared in the Pakistani Super League for its franchise, Peshawar Zalmi with 11 counters in eight sleeves.
Meanwhile, Archer will be reassessed by the England medical team to determine when he could return to the action.
The first England match against the Antilles is scheduled for May 29 in Edgbaston.
The revised team of England for the ODI series against the Antilles:
Harry Brook (C), Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Tom Hartley, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Jamie Overton, Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Luke Wood.
