The former UFC star, Conor McGregor, was accused of sexual assault in a NBA match in a civil trial against the Irishman before an American court. The alleged incident took place in 2023 and was previously part of a criminal allegation against McGregor that the Office of the Florida State Prosecutor refused to move forward. The woman, whose name has not been released, alleges court documents that she was sexually assaulted in the toilets of the Kaseya Center in Miami Heat in June 2023 where the pair had been in the reception area.
Women reported the incident two days later. Her lawyer James Dunn said in an email that she had decided to wear the case now because her identity had been disclosed to a media.
“After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s Office has chosen not to continue criminal accusations, a civil affair is the only avenue that my client must request justice in this case,” said Dunn in the statement sent by email.
Barbara Llanes de Gelber, Schachter & Greenberg, the lawyer for McGregor said: “After an in -depth investigation at the time, the state prosecutor concluded that there was no case to continue. Almost two years and at least three lawyers later, the complainant has a new false story. We are convinced that this affair will also be rejected.”
The complainant continues the staff of the Kaseya Center and security for “serious negligence” and requests “for past and future medical treatments, compensatory damages and costs, and any other aid such as (the) court judges reasonable”, according to court documents.
