EXCLUSIVE: Late night showdown – Jolly LLB 3 team pays VPF under protest; Akshay Kumar joins talks : Bollywood News

Bollywood Hungama was among the first to point out that the reservations of Jolly LLB 3 The emissions were suspended by PVR stainless steel due to VPF problems (virtual printing costs). The reservations were arrested from the evening on Wednesday, September 17 and resumed on the morning of September 18. The question was not resolved, but it was agreed to start the reservations. However, the film team had a shock when the film’s reservations were suspended Thursday evening by the multiplex chain.

Exclusive: late Night Showdown – Jolly LLB 3 The VPF pay team during protest; Akshay Kumar joins the talks
A source told Bollywood Hungama“The reservations were again maintained pending and this occurred less than 12 hours before the film’s first show. The film team immediately entered into negotiation mode. Even Akshay Kumar, one of the main actors of Jolly LLB 3was involved.
The source continued: “Viacom18 had signed an agreement with PVR stainless steel which they will only pay VPF until 2024. Consequently, they felt justified to ask for a derogation since Jolly LLB 3 is a 2025 version. But PVR Inox argued that the agreement mentions that the studio will stop paying VPF, subject to other production houses doing the same. Since other producers continue to pay VPF diligently this year, they insisted that Viacom18 should also follow suit. »»
The source added: “With the reservations interrupted, there would have been a major impact on the first day of the collections. Consequently, the team of Jolly LLB 3 agreed with VPF payment. However, they clearly indicated that they paid under protest and that they would continue their discussion on this issue. »»
A multiplex official said to us, “The problem was sorted around midnight. We all got the green light to resume reservations. The film has now been gently released across the country. ”

What is VPF?
Virtual printing costs (VPF) are a charge that large multiplex channels in India draw producers or distributors to help cover the cost of upgrading their technology, which is intended to provide a better cinematographic experience to an audience. On average, these costs are around Rs. 20,000 per screen. For small cinema chains and non -2K theaters, these costs are collected by companies like UFO, Scrabble, Qube etc., which provide digital cinema services.
For a long time, the producers argued that the VPF should not be billed indefinitely and that it was only supposed to have been imposed for a certain time. Exhibitors, on the other hand, believe that the VPF is necessary because it helps to endure the cost of the film using the latest technologies and has many advantages.
In 2019, the case became widely known and discussed after producer Ronnie Screwvala filed a case with the India Competition Commission (CCI) against PVR, Stainless steel, Cinepolis and Carnival Cinemas on VPF. However, the CCI reigned in favor of multiplexes.
Earlier this year, the VPF had become a subject of discussion after Bhool chuk maaf received special exemptions – the national channels allowed the Romcom to arrive at OTT two weeks after the theater release, and secondly, they agreed to invoice VPF only if the film crossed a certain figure at the box office.
