EXCLUSIVE: No cuts, no ‘A’ rating – Kajol-starrer Maa is a RARE horror film to be awarded with a U/A certificate : Bollywood News

After a fantastic last week for Bollywood thanks to the Aamir Khan-Starrer Sitaare Zameen by, Trade and industry are now preparing for another exciting film, Maa. The film’s trailer drew attention due to the casting of Kajol, the kind of horror and the subject. The only concern was that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) could request several cuts and even after that, they could grant a “A” certificate to the film. But with this film, the CBFC gave a pleasant surprise to all.

According to the list of cuts, the CBFC passed the film without a single audio or visual cut. A source told Bollywood Hungama“With CBFC, you can never know. Sitaare Zameen byThe members asked that Michael Jackson be replaced by “lovebirds” and the “businesswoman” has been changed to “businessman”. This and the insistence in the addition of a quote from the Prime Minister led to a storm. Therefore, fear was that when a clean film like Sitaare Zameen by gets such cuts, what would happen Maa which is a horror film.
The source continued: “However, the CBFC examination committee has not reduced a single blow, although some scenes are disturbing. And that’s not all. They also allowed the film to have a U / A 16+ note. This means that the crowd of under 18s can also see this film. ”
It is a rarity because most horror or supernatural films receive a “one” certificate like Chhorii 2 (2025), 1920: Horrors of the heart (2023), Bhoot: first part – The haunted ship (2020), Amavas (2019), Ghost (2019), Tumbbad (2018) etc. Shaitaan (2024); as MaaHe was also supported by Devgn Films and Jio Studios. Horror comedies, on the other hand, have passed with a U / A certificate.
Go back MaaThe CBFC, however, simply asked manufacturers to increase the length of non-liability until readable time and also asked them to add details “anti-daughter child and human sacrifice”. Finally, according to the rules in force since 2021, manufacturers were also invited to mention the title of the film in Hindi.
Once these changes have been made, the censorship certificate was given to manufacturers of Maa June 20. The duration of the film, as mentioned on the certificate of censorship, is 135.35 minutes, or 2 hours 15 minutes and 35 seconds.
