“Goa Has Thrown Me…”: Yashasvi Jaiswal Breaks Silence On Quitting Mumbai Suddenly In Domestic Cricket




Yashasvi Jaiswal made a sudden decision that sent shock waves in domestic cricket across the country. Jaiswal wrote Tuesday at the Mumbai Cricket Association, expressing his wish to leave Mumbai for Goa, and the Director Body quickly accepted his request. Jaiswal’s shock decision will see the 23-year-old on the left for Goa from the 2025-26 season where he could be appointed captain, although it remains to be seen how long he would be able to give the state on the side of the crowded international calendar.

Now Yashasvi Jaiswal has opened his decision. “It was a very difficult decision for me. All I am today is because of Mumbai. The city made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to MCA,” said Jaiswal The Indian Express.

“Goa gave me a new opportunity and it offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I am in national service, I will play for Goa and I will try to make them go deep in the tournament. It was an (important) opportunity that came to me and I took it.”

Jaiswal played for the last time for Mumbai against Jammu-et-Cachemire in their match of Ranji Trophy Group a League from January 23 to 25 following the strict implementation of the directives of the BCCI according to which all the players of India should play domestic cricket if not in national service.

“Yes, it is surprising. He had to think of something to make such a gesture. He asked us to relieve him and we accepted his request,” said a senior MCA official on Wednesday.

“He wants to play for us and we welcome him. He will play for us from next season,” said the secretary of the Goa Cricket Association, Shamba Desai, to PTI speaking of Jaiswal’s decision.

Jaiswal could well the goa captain when he is not in national service.

“Yes, it can happen,” he replied when he asked him if Jaiswal could be a candidate for the post of captain for the state.

“He plays for the Indian Cricket team so that he can be the captain and we will work in the direction of appointing him. Regarding his availability (for domestic competitions), we must not speak yet,” he added.

Jaiswal is Mumbai’s third cricket player lately for having moved to Goa after Arjun Tentulkar and Siddhesh Lad.

LAD and Tentulkar had moved to Goa before the 2022-23 season.

The right -handed strike player served his cooling period before making a successful return to Mumbai last season in the Ranji trophy.

Jaiswal was the opening of India at the first choice since its debut in testing against the Antilles in July 2023 and since then, he played 19 games, cement with stellar performances on the biggest scene.

It has an average of more than 52 in tests, including four hundred and 10 fifty.
