Govt blocks ALTT, ULLU and 22 other platforms over adult content violations: Reports : Bollywood News
The Ministry of Information and Diffusion (MIB) ordered the blocking of 24 applications and websites for accommodation and promotion of obscene, adult and vulgar content. The platforms have been proven to violate several Indian laws, in particular those governing the digital content and the representation of women.

The order, made under the law of 2000 on information technology, directs all Internet service providers (ISP) in the country to restrict public access to identified platforms. These websites and mobile applications have been accused of having distributed sexually explicit and indecent material representations of women, contravening articles 67 and 67A of the IT law, article 294 of the 1986 law of the indexed representation of the indexed representation of women (prohibition).

Legal framework behind action
This decision is rooted in specific legal provisions:
- Articles 67 and 67a of the IT law: Prohibit the publication or transmission of obscene and sexually explicit materials in electronic form.
- Article 294 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023: Replaces the previous IPC section, penalizing obscene acts and content.
- The 1986 law on the indecent representation of women (prohibition): Prohibits the representation of women in an indecent manner in the media and advertisements.
Coordination with DOT and FAI
To guarantee an effective application, the MIB also communicated with the Telecommunications Department (DOT), requesting cooperation in coordination with ISPs for the rapid implementation of the prohibition through Indian networks.
