On Thursday, judge Anish Dayal rejected the request of the Bollywood actor, who also aimed to stop the procedure currently in the process of a first instance court in Delhi. The Directorate of the Application of the Act (ED), which investigates the case, opposed the petition of Fernandez, arguing that the plea was not maintained. The emergency lawyer pointed out that a special court had already read the charges and had prima facie against Fernandez. They also noted that the order of knowledge itself had not been challenged by the actress.

The case has remained in the eyes of the public since the names of Jacqueline Fernandez surfaced during the investigation of the emergency. According to the agency, Fernandez received expensive gifts from Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who were funded by the extorted money from Aditi Singh, the wife of an eminent businessman.

For her defense, Fernandez argued that she was not aware of the illegal sources of the gifts provided to her. During a previous hearing in November, his lawyer argued that Fernandez did not know that luxury items had been funded by the crime product. Her legal team also said that even if Fernandez appeared on media reports in 2019 connecting Chandrasekhar to illicit activities, she did not check the information and there is no legal basis to assert that she knowingly accepted money or assets obtained by criminal means.

His lawyers insisted that the alleged failure was surveillance rather than an intentional act and that the lack of criminal intention should exempt him from the accusations under the laws on money laundering.

With the Delhi’s high court to reject the plea, the case against Jacqueline Fernandez will now carry out the court of first instance. Other developments in the case are expected as the investigation and the legal proceedings continue.
