India Open 2025: Anupama Upadhyaya Wins All-Indian Battle Against Close Friend Rakshitha Ramaraj

Anupama Upadhyaya won the battle between two players of singles up while Malvika Bansod and Priyanshu Rajawat fought against higher clôTual opponents, but ended on the losing side in the first round of open 2025 India at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall here on Wednesday. Malvika saved two match points in the opening match and retaliated from 7-14 to 16-16 in the second against the third head of female in single Han Yue de China before descending 20-22, 21-16, 21-11 in an hour and six minutes.
The return offer of Asian Games and the World Championships The HS Prannoy bronze medalist was interrupted by Su Li Yang while the 32-year-old Indian dropped 16-21, 21-18, 21-12 in an hour and 13 minutes.
Rajawat saved a match point in the second match to force a decision-maker against the silver medalist of the 2023 world championships and the sixth seeded Kodai Naraoka but could not avoid a defeat 21-16, 22-20, 21-13 in a match that lasted an hour and 22 minutes in the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament.
Earlier, the entirely Indian confrontation between the academic comrades Anupama and Rakshitha Sree Santosh Ramraj turned out to be a battle of mind between two good friends with an experience triumphant youth. The former national champion Anupama hired Rakshitha in long rallies, not giving him much chance of using the big Smash to win 21-17, 21-18 in 43 minutes to go to the second round.
Anupama will now face the sixth Japanese seeded Tomaka Miyazaki, who recovered from the crisis of the second match to beat Thai Pornpicha Choekeewong 21-7, 22-24, 21-9 in the first round.
The combination of female doubles of the seventh seeded also progressed the duplicate combination of the seventh seeded of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto, Rutuparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda, and the combination of mixed doubles of Ashith Suryeta and Amruta Pramureshsh.
Ashwini and Tanisha defeated the compatriots Kavya Gupta and Radhika Sharma 21-11, 21-12 while the Sisters Panda, RutaParna and Swetaparna took over the young Thai combination of Phattarin Aiamvareesakul and Sarisa Janpeng 7-21, 21-19, 21-14. Ashith and Amruta then joined forces to beat K Tarun and Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli 21-14, 21-15 to go to the second round in mixed double.
But it was the heartbreaking losses of young guns, Malvika and Rajawat, who left badminton fans at homeless home when they both played.
Malvika, who had had a right match against Han last week in Malaysia, started strongly in the opening match and although the Chinese took control of the match at the subsequent stadium, kept his nerves and forced the errors to save two points of play and pocket the first match. It seemed that she could make a recall in the second after winning eight the nine points from 7 to 14, but some errors have scored her efforts and the experienced Han tightened the knot flowing in the decision maker.
In the single male match, Rajawat displayed a delicious game of blow and used big jump smashs to keep the pace of Naroaka. The Japanese shuttle was forced to work hard for each point and the error that India forced the sixth seed to engage in the match point in the second match after a long rally showed that it was prepared for scrap. But again, it was Naraoka’s experience that counted in the final analysis.
