The legendary Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute in New York, which trained icons like Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, has expressed a rare honor to veteran actor Shabana Azmi. After watching her acclaimed solo pictures, institute president Victoria Kraner personally invited Shabana Azmi to visit the school and lead an acting masterclass for NYU theater students.

This marks a historic moment as Azmi is the first Indian actor to have received such an invitation from the institution considered the mecca of acting.
When this writer contacted the incomparable Shabana Azmi in the US, she was surprised. “How did you learn this so quickly? Yes, I was invited to host a masterclass at the Lee Strasberg Theater & Film Institute. How do I respond to this honor? As I do to any recognition. Just keep working and never stop to admire you. And if the recognition of your work makes our country proud, then I am happy.”
Azmi was also recently seen sharing a happy moment with Robert Elleman, director and teacher and Victoria Krane, president of the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute.
