India Urged To Take ‘Right Step’ Towards Hosting 2036 Olympics, Told To Host This Major Tournament First

The CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), Katie Sadleir, said that the accommodation of the CWG 2030 would be a step in the right direction for India while the country continues to play the 2036 Olympic Games. Sadleir spoke on the second day of the Times group and now Global Business Summit here on Sunday. “Hosting the Olympic Games would be an incredible achievement, and having the 2030 Commonwealth Games in India would be the right step towards this goal,” she said. His comments arise in the context of informal discussions between the CGF and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on the possibility of hosting the CWG 2030.
Sadleir said it was optimistic that India would be among the 10 best artists from the Olympic Games in the near future.
“India’s work is transformational. With the right leadership, infrastructure and passion, India is on the right track to become one of the 10 best countries of the Olympic Games,” she said.
“Sports are extremely important to create the image of a country,” she said. “Being recognized as a sporting power improves the influence of a nation on the world scene.” India hosted Commonwealth Games (CWG) for the first and the only time so far in 2010.
The country has officially submitted a letter of intent to host the 2036 Olympic Games to the International Olympic Committee (CIO), which will not decide the host before next year.
Sadleir praised the growing sports infrastructure of India, saying that it is a sign of the country’s commitment to international competitions.
“The political support and the passion of people here are incredible,” she said. “The will is there, and people understand the power of sport and Commonwealth games.” Speaking alongside her, the president of the International Sport Sport Federation (ISSF) Luciano Rossi has echoed the importance of the role of India in world sports.
“India is working hard not only in Delhi, but also in Bhopal. These efforts are concrete actions that present the seriousness of India about the future of sport,” he said.
