Indian Boxers Must Get More Foreign Exposure To Secure Medals At 2028 Olympics: Vijender Singh

The Olympic Pugilist Bronze Vijender Singh medalist pleaded for an increased foreign exhibition for Indian boxers in order to increase their chances of winning a medal at the Los Angeles 2028 games. In addition, it called for new elections to the Indian boxing federation (BFI). From the Paris Olympic Games, boxing has been relatively calm. In October and November of last year, young boxers (men and women) participated in the U19 boxing world championships in the United States. The national male championships took place in early January in Bareilly (UP), while the female competition, initially scheduled from February 21 to 28 in Lucknow, was postponed.
Certain boxers, including the Olympic Bronze Medallane in Tokyo, Lovlina Borgohain, participated in the national Uttarakhand games.
“The way our country is progressing in sports, I firmly think that Indian boxers must obtain more exposure abroad in competitions from now on to ensure medals at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics,” published Vijender on Wednesday.
“For this, we have to lead fresh and fair elections as soon as possible to build a strong federation. I will be more than happy to contribute my experience if I am given responsibility by our government. @Pmoindia @Mansukhmandviya,” he added.

On Monday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) trained an ad hoc committee of five members, including the main boxer Shiva Thapa to manage the daily affairs of BFI, citing administrative instability within the Federation and its inability to hold elections in time.
The mandate of the current BFI officials ended on February 2, but the elections could not be carried out following a case during the previous elections in which the order went against the BFI.
The ad hoc panel will be led by Madukant Pathak with Rajesh Bhandari has been appointed vice-president. Viretra Singh Thakur, Shiva Thapa and DP Bhatt are the other members of the Committee.
The ad hoc panel “will address the grievances raised by the boxing community, will facilitate the participation of athletes in the next international competitions and endeavors to carry out the IBF elections as soon as possible”.
