The Star of the shorer Shubman Gill condemned the leadership of India tests on Saturday to travel a phase of “massive transition” from the tour of next month in England which will be nothing less than a fire trial for the relatively inexperienced team of 18 members. At 25, Gill will be the fifth test captain of India after Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (21), Sachin Tendulkar (23), Kapil Dev (24) and Ravi Shastri (25). He will have the Rishabh pants in Cape but erratic as his assistant for the five -game series which will start on June 20 in Leeds.
“Last year, we watched Shubman (for leadership). We hope he is the guy who goes (to advance the team). He is a high pressure work, but he is a great player,” said the president of the selectors Ajit Agarkar after announcing the team, who did not offer any major surprise.
Gill has appeared in 32 tests so far and on average one 35 fairly modest for his 1893 races with five hundred and seven fifty at the top of the Order since he made his debut in 2020.
The 27 -year -old pants, on the other hand, is a little more experienced with 43 tests to its credit and a better average of 42.11 for its 2948 points at the bottom of the programming. He broke six hundred and 15 half-century since his arrival in 2018.
“Pant is one of our best strikers in the test cricket in the past four years. A ticket office may well see the game and that is why he is the deputy for Shubman,” added Agarkar while explaining the role of the big blow.
The team’s decision on the team leadership was on the lines expected after retirement from the Senior Stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who both called it less than a week before this month.
A notable exclusion was the Mohammed Shami stimulator, which was not considered fairly fit in the long series which will not end until the first week of August.
“He tried to get in shape for the series, but he had a little loss last week … And he did MRI. I would like to mention, I don’t think he was going to be available for the five tests. I don’t think his workload is where she must be,” said Agarkar.
“It was the medical guys who told us that he had been excluded from the series. Unfortunately, we hoped that he was available for a part of the series at least. But if he is not in good shape for the moment, it is very difficult to wait. For the moment, he is not completely fit,” he added during the press conference.
Maiden Call-up for Sai, Arshdeep
Among the notable inclusions were the young left B Sai Sudharsan and the rhythm of the left arm Arshdeep Singh, who obtained their first call test.
“Sai was not chosen on the basis of IPL, he showed the right temperament and has the game to succeed at the highest level … We have been watching him for some time,” said Agarkar, referring to the top scorer in IPL this season with 638 points on average 53 so far for Gujarat titans.
Like Sudharsan, Arshdeep also has a gaming experience in County cricket.
The left arm stimulator, which has been chosen in front of Khaleel Ahmed, is the main flag holder in India in the T20 Cricket but which is revealed in the traditional format will be a much more difficult challenge.
Nair persistent in, unfit shami out
The team also includes Karun Nair, who returns to the national configuration after eight years. Having played for the last time in 2017, Nair was abandoned from the team shortly after having become the second triple century of tests from India.

Bumrah not available for 5 tests
Besides Gill, Bumrah was another solid competitor for the captain, but the selectors decided to put the responsibility of leadership towards the punjab striker.
There were also questions about the fitness of Bumrah and Agarkar acknowledged that the availability of Star Pace for the full series is a concern.
“I do not think it is available for the five tests with regard, once again, what) the physios and the doctors told us,” said Agarkar on Bumrah.
“Whether it’s four or three (tests), we will see how the series takes place and how his body can take the workload. No need to say how important he is. So, even if it is fit to know if these are three or four tests, he will win a few test games,” he added.
The elected official, Gill, has a massive challenge at hand, both as a leader and the striker.
His rare stick talent is undeniable, but he has not yet proven himself in test cricket, especially in the countries of Sena (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). On average 14.66 in three tests in England.
As a captain, he does not have much experience in domestic cricket, but has led the IPL Titans de Gujarat franchise for a few seasons.
“It is a massive transition. Rohit and Virat were both for a long time,” added Agarkar, who said that Kohli’s replacement decision at number four would be a call by the management of the team including Gill and head coach Gautam Gambir.
Easwaran and Thakur also make the cup
A top scorer in domestic cricket, Abhimhanyu Easwaran, has found a place in the prolonged squad as a reserve operator. It has also been chosen in the past, but has never been able to appear in the eleven at stake.
With doubts about Nitish Reddy The Bowler, the selectors chose another versatile Bowling Fast at Shardul Thakur, who played for the last time for India in December 2023.
