India’s Star Javelin Thrower At Tokyo Olympics Shivpal Singh Fails Dope Test, Stares At 8-Year Ban

Olympian javelin launcher Shivpal Singh failed a Dope test for the second time in his career, a development that could see him prohibited for a maximum period of eight years if he is found guilty. The 29 -year -old man, who participated in the Tokyo Olympic Games, is learned to have come back positive for a prohibited substance when his urine sample was removed from competition earlier this year was tested. He then trained at Nis Patiala. He was temporarily suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

“Yes, he was tested positive for a prohibited substance. This is his second offense in Dope,” said a source to the development of PTI on anonymity conditions.

If it is proven guilty and awarded a long ban, Shivpal’s career will be as good as it is over.

According to the rules of the NADA and the AMA, an athlete can be prohibited for a maximum of eight years for a second doping offense.

Shivpal’s best success in his career is the silver medal he had won at the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha, where he had launched his personal record of 86.23 m.

Earlier in 2021, the SHIVPAL DOPE sample had been tested positive for a steroid in an out -of -competition test. Nada’s anti -doping disciplinary panel in August 2022 gave him a four -year ban from 2021, held him guilty of having committed a doping offense.

He had to serve the ban until 2025, but was able to successfully discuss before the Nada call panel that the “contaminated supplements” were behind his missed drug test.

The appeal committee in January 2023 accepted its assertion and reduced the four -year ban period to one.

He returned to action in April 2023 and won a bronze at the national inter-state championships in Bhubaneswar in June of the same year. He also won gold at the 2023 national games in Goa.
