IPL 2025: Our Approach Is Not Conditions Specific, Says KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer Ahead Of CSK Clash

The vice-captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, Vekatesh Iyer, underlined the adaptability of the team before their crucial confrontation of the Indian Premier (IPL) 2025 against Chennai Super Kings at the Ma Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Friday. Despite a close defeat of four points during their previous release against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Iyer remained positive on the performance of the team. “We played a very good cricket, even the last match. We only lost by four points, which shows that it was a uniformly disputed match,” he noted at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.
Asked about the potential advantages in the next match, in particular with regard to their spin attack led by Varun Chakravarthy, Ier minimized the idea that KKR specifically seeks favorable conditions.
“We never look at what is the best condition for us. We are preparing for good cricket conditions, and that’s what professional sport is used,” said Iyer. “If a team must be champion, he must understand that in all the conditions, you must have the combination that can do well.”
Regarding his own form, Iyer underlined his concentration on the state of mind rather than on statistics. “I am at my best when my state of mind for the game is right. When my approach to the game is right, it has nothing to do with the races I have marked,” he said.
“The reference has always been the state of mind that I wear, and I think I have a very good state of mind towards the game.”
While KKR seeks to strengthen their position in the IPL 2025 ranking, their approach against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be crucial in what promises to be an exciting meeting at the Chepauk stadium.
With four consecutive defeats behind them and only one victory so far this season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five -time winner (CSK), is found in ninth place, with a pressure assembly in each match.
The reigning champions KKR are in a slightly better position in the table, ranked sixth with two victories in five games and they also need consistency. Their quests were criticized in Eden Gardens, and better effort will be expected on the surface most suitable for Chennai.
