Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri Bengal files Finally hit the big screens, standing as one of the most daring films ever made in Indian cinema. The story moves transparently between the past and the present, discovering the hard truths of the day of direct action on August 16, 1946. While the film was published worldwide, the exhibitors of the Western Bengal refrain from projecting it into theaters due to political pressure. Since the film was certified by the CBFC, the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (ImpPa) has asked the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to intervene in this area and to help facilitate the release of the Western Bengal film.

The Indian Association of Film producers (ImpPa) wrote a letter to the Honorable Prime Minister asking for his intervention for the release of Bengal files in Western Bengal. The request was made for an urgent action to ensure the release of the film in the state. As the film has already received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for public exhibition, it should be authorized to go out in Western Bengal so that the rule of law is maintained and certified works of art can be exposed freely and safely across the country.

The IPPA also said that producers and distributors are confronted with intimidation and obstacles, while the government of the State has failed to guarantee the fundamental environment of security and law and order necessary for the free and equitable liberation of the film.

The filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has taken his social media and shared the letter of Imppa and wrote – “The Indian association of film producers is based strongly in support of #Thebengalfiles and written at @pmoindia @narendramod to intervene against the illegal and non -institutional prohibition of cinema by the government of Western Bengal.

Bengal files is written and produced by Vivek Ranjan Agnihtri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Ranjan Agnihtri. The film, presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Buddha Productions, is part of the Vivek file trilogy, which includes Cashmere files And Tashkent files. The film was released in theaters on September 5, 2025.
