During the event of Ficci executives recently organized in Delhi, the veteran lyricist and Javed Akhtar screenwriter addressed the frightening consequences of the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Kashmir. Speaking frankly during a panel, Akhtar did not retain his criticisms of the actions of Pakistan and also called increasing hostility in the face of the cashmiris in India in the name of nationalism.

“Each government of this country, be it Congress or BJP, tried to establish peace. Even Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji went to Pakistan. But what did they do? They washed the place where he visited. Are they calling friendship? ” Akhtar said, reflecting on past diplomatic efforts that have not given lasting peace.
The attack in Pahalgam, which has cost the life of several members of Indian and civil security staff, aroused indignation and sorrow across the country. Akhtar, while condemning terrorism, has also warned against anger and poorly directed damages and the prejudices inflicted on the Indian citizens of the cashmere. “How are we supposed to speak in Pakistan when they did not even accept the corpses of their own soldiers of the Kargil War?” He continued, stressing what he considers a story of contempt and denial of the end of Pakistan during the conflict.
However, the famous poet also put the spotlights inwards, urging the Indians not to alienate their own citizens following such attacks. “For those who harass the cashmiris in places like Mussoria or any other part of India, you validate and confirm Pakistan propaganda,” he said categorically.
Akhtar’s comments serve as a timely recall of the complexity of cross -border tensions and the dangers of letting fear and anger turn into community hatred. Although he recognized the harsh realities of diplomatic posture and military policies in Pakistan, he also stressed the importance of maintaining humanity and unity in the country.
The remarks have since become viral on social networks, resonating with many of those who echo its call for introspection and responsible citizenship. While the country is struggling with sorrow and fury on the terrorist attack, Akhtar’s words have a double call – one for unwavering security measures and another to protect the moral fabric of the nation.
