Jessica Pegula Tops McCartney Kessler To Capture First WTA Title Of 2025

The world number four Jessica Pegula propelled her first WTA title in 2025 on Sunday, beating McCartney Kessler 7-5, 6-2 in a fully American final in Austin, Texas. Pegula, the seeded, won a seventh WTA title and her first since she won the 1000 event in Toronto last year. It was one of the two titles of Pegula in a campaign in 2024 in which she also reached the United States final. In Kessler, she stopped a rapid rise talent, the first two WTA finals of which gave a pair of titles – in Cleveland last August and in Hobart in January.

The 25 -year -old man arrived in Austin High after winning his first top 10 player in a career with an upheaval from Coco Gauff in the second round in Dubai.

But she could not find a way to pass Pegula, who broke a sequence of three defeats in the final for a confidence construction crown before the prestigious hard short tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami.

Kessler seemed ready to change this when she joined 0-2 to take a 4-2 advance in the first set.

Kessler broke Pegula to open the second, but Pegula won the next four games to take control.
